Birks Grange Village is located a 12 minute walk away from the centre of campus. This residence is being allocated to undergraduate students in 2025-26, creating a community of 832 students.
Birks Grange Village provides provides townhouse, en-suite and studio accommodation.
- There are 13 townhouses with 156 bedrooms in total. Each townhouse has 12 bedrooms on 3 floors, with four bedrooms and two shower rooms on each floor, plus a large shared kitchen/dining/lounge area on the ground floor. There is an additional toilet located on the ground floor. The shower rooms consist of a wet room-style shower, toilet, sink and mirror.
- There are 286 single en-suite rooms with a shared kitchen/diner in cluster flats of up to eight rooms. The en-suite facilities consist of a wet room-style shower, toilet, sink and mirror.
- The 390 single studios are open-plan and include a double bed, workspace, and small kitchenette/diner. The en-suite facilities consist of a wet room-style shower, toilet, sink and mirror.
The University of Exeter continually invests in its properties to provide new facilities and upgrade existing ones. We are planning to build the new West Park student residences on our Streatham campus in the Clydesdale area between Holland Hall, Birks Grange Village and Nash Grove. These measurements are a guide only. In some residences the individual room sizes vary considerably.
Bed size
All townhouse and en-suite rooms have longer length single beds (6'9" by 3'). The height of the storage space under the bed is a maximum of 29cm.
Studios have longer length three-quarter double beds (6'9" by 4') except some rooms in H block which have longer length double beds (6'9" by 4'6"). The height of the storage space under the bed is a maximum of 29cm.
The mattresses are seven inches (20 cm) thick and, due to their longer length, standard fitted sheets may not fit these mattresses. We recommend for studios a flat sheet of 7' by 4'6" and for en-suite and townhouses a flat sheet of 7' by 4'.
All bedrooms in Birks Grange Village self-catered residences have:
- Bed (see 'Room and bed sizes' tab above for more details), wardrobe, desk and chair.
- Bookshelves, desk lamp or built-in lighting, pinboard, full length mirror and waste bin.
- Shower, washbasin and toilet facilities in en-suite rooms.
- High speed wired and wireless network/internet is available from Glide Student. You will need to register online to receive access.
- No aerial socket in the bedrooms; students can use a laptop or desktop to watch TV via internet. Please note you will still need a TV Licence to watch live TV or BBC iPlayer from any device.

Shared kitchens in Birks Grange Village have:

Studio rooms in Birks Grange Village have a combi microwave, electric plate hob, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, dining table and chair, and waste bin. An ironing board and iron are available from a shared corridor cupboard.
The quantity of items provided depends on the size of the flat. You will need to provide pots and pans, cutlery and crockery.

Birks Grange Village gallery
There was a great social aspect which was helped by the communal areas in and around the flat. We often played pool with our friends in the common rooms. My room was extremely comfortable, and I really appreciated the en-suite bathroom. The maintenance and support staff have always been really helpful and dealt with issues quickly.
