About this course:

This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers.

This 90-minute interactive webinar offers early career researchers an opportunity to explore, learn more about, and reflect on, the theme of self-leadership (leading from within).

Within this session, we will consider how we lead and manage ourselves (our inner resourcefulness and emotional state) to enhance our personal effectiveness and build greater resilience to navigate the challenge of an increasingly uncertain and complex environment.

The session will offer a light-touch mix of some theory and concepts around self-leadership as well as practical tips and techniques.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Better understand the concept of self-leadership and how this relates to you, as well as its relevance in the current research environment.

- Raise your consciousness around how you currently manage your resourcefulness (inner emotional state) and learn some practical techniques to regulate this.

- Explore resilience as a skillset and mindset, with practical tools to build it.

- Identify personal sources of motivation and techniques to maintain focus and productivity.

- Leave with a simple self-leadership action plan to support ongoing development.

This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers interested in continuing to raise their consciousness around managing themselves more effectively in their current environment and beyond.

Presenter(s):

This session is delivered by Sarah Williment, The Questioning Iris Co.

Sarah is an experienced organisational development and systems coach, ILM Certified Coach and Mentor, and accredited Strengthscope and UpAGear Practitioner, with an MEd in Leadership & Management.

She runs her own consultancy and hold Associate/Principal Consultant roles with two other consultancies.

She has worked within the higher and adult education sectors for over 25 years ? since then, her consultancy has spanned manufacturing, design, engineering, sport, education, research, charities, and social enterprise.
